Kitchen and Washer Box Drain Line

Project type

Kitchen and Washer Box Drain Line Replacement

Date

July 2025

Location

Melba, Idaho

Trench the crawlspace part of the basement to get to the drain lines to the kitchen and washer. Remove the 1 1/2" drain standpipe to the kitchen and cut the washer box tailpiece in the crawlspace. Hardcap the old 2" main drain that leads outside the house to prevent sewer gas from entering the crawlspace. Using the proper fittings, connect the kitchen drain line and the washer drain together and run out of the back of the crawlspace into the basement section. Tie the new 2" drain line into the main sewer that is currently serving the bathroom group. Provide a cleanout in the basement on the new 2" drain line to be an access point for drain cleaning. Remove the current 1 1/2 tubular drain system under the kitchen sink and install new to provide a water tight seal. The new drain line under the kitchen sink will have and AAV to provide a vent to assist the drain line in proper drainage. A new cleanout will be installed under the kitchen sink to provide a drain cleaning access point. After installation, a running water test will be performed to ensure the drainage system is flowing properly and to ensure the system has a water tight seal.
