Avoid a Halloween Drain Disaster: What Not to Put Down Your Sink

'Tis the season for candy, costumes, and things that go crazy in the night! But, one thing that you don't want to haunt your dreams is a clogged sink. Here are a few things we recommend NOT putting down the drain.
Pumpkin Guts & Seeds 🎃
Pumpkin guts and seeds may seem like they're okay to put down the sink. Pumpkins are food and that's why we have garbage disposals, right? The seeds aren't that big! Wrong!! Pumpkin guts and seeds easily clog your drains and garbage disposals. Those should be put in the trash - or clean off those seeds and season them for a yummy snack!
Grease & Oil 🕸️
This is one that I'm sure you've heard before. You may be cooking more soups and pastas as the Fall season brings in that cool air chill. You may even be tempted to rinse the grease from the bacon you cooked to your potato soup down the drain. Do not fall weak to the temptations. Grease & Oil solidify causing extreme blockages down the drain and can do so much damage that clearing the drain is no longer even an option, but rather only replacing it. You don't even want to know about the smell . . .
Candy & Wrappers 🧛
Candy and candy wrappers are definitely not good for the kitchen drain. The sugar in the candy can make the residue (and/or wrappers) stick to the sides of the sink, drain, and garbage disposal causing blockages. If you want to talk about something really scary - think about the ants that are going to be crawling all over once they get a whiff of that discarded sugar! Best place for it - the trash.
